About Me

My name: Ashley G’s.

Find me on the Leaderboard: gerhartnhustle

I’ve been a Peloton Member since: March 2020

My occupation: Division 1 Softball Coach / Personal Trainer

To introduce myself: I am currently a Division 1 Softball Coach at Lafayette College, while also personal training on the side. I played Division 1 College Softball at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh. Fitness and sports are my engine to life. It is my release and both have very transferable skills to life. Being in my career as a coach my goal is to get the most out of people around me that they did not even know they were capable of. I am very passionate about Peloton, where it as helped me to get clarity in my own personal mission statement.

A recent fitness achievement I’m proud of: My mile time when I first started peloton was in the high 9's, now 1 year later I am in the mid 7's for distances. For me I never thought I would ever get to that number. I am very proud that I have found the right mindset in running to reach these goals. I started using Peloton to shed some pounds and ended up losing 30 pounds and now I use Peloton to compete with myself physically and mentally. Since I am a college coach and personal trainer I use Peloton to fill my cup as I pour into others

My most frequent class taken: Saturday 60 with Jess Sims

My advice to other Peloton Members: Consistency is key. Before peloton I struggled to find results in working out. I realized I was not consistent with my workouts. When I joined Peloton in March 2020, I practiced doing hard things while focusing on staying consistent without judgements or expectations. There is no such thing as a bad workout unless it did not happen. Our bodies are capable of amazing things, but it is our minds that tends to get in the way.

My favorite…

  • Instructors: Jess Sims, Adrian Williams, Andy Speer, Ben Alldis, Selena Samuela

  • Recovery day class: Stretching or Yoga

  • Class playlist genre: Since Jess Sims is my favorite I have gotten into the Hip Hop playlists, but my go to is EDM. I love EDM music.

  • Post-workout snack: Eggs, avocado on Daves killer bread English muffin

  • Time to workout: Morning

My Week

MONDAY

  • 20 min HIIT Run with Selena Samuela

  • 5 min Core Strength with Ally Love

  • 60 min Bike Bootcamp with Jess Sims

Monday is the start of a new workout week! This week is a big one for me, because I’m starting another four-week program. Since starting my Peloton Membership, I have been creating four-week workout plans to keep me motivated and inspired. Usually on Mondays I will do a 45 min strength, a 20 min HIIT run and a core workout. Since my schedule allowed for me to participate in Jess Sims’ live Bike bootcamp, I decided to make my plan for the day a little different. I woke up feeling good and refreshed. I started the morning off with a beginner HIIT run with Selena Samuela. Though I’m not a “beginner” in the Peloton world, I enjoy doing beginner classes to really bring myself back to when I was a beginner and remind myself what a privilege it is to be a beginner in something, not even just working out. After the HIIT run, I completed a 5 min core strength with Ally Love, and a 20 min full body strength with my favorite trainer, Jess Sims. Then I tuned in for a live 60 minute Bike Bootcamp with Jess Sims. This was one of the first times I did a Bike Bootcamp, and I felt empowered and confident during and after the workout. Jess always does a good job of creating the resilient mindset and when things feel tough, she reminds me that I’m tougher.

TUESDAY

Morning:

  • 30 min Hip Hop Tread Bootcamp with Jess Sims

  • 10 min Core Strength with Andy Speer

  • 10 min Arms Toning with Ben Alldis

Evening:

  • 30 min Tread Bootcamp with Jess Sims

  • 20 min Year of Yes Run with Jess Sims

  • 5 min Sleep Meditation with Ross Rayburn

I felt good waking up this Tuesday. I thought I would be more sore after doing the 60 minute Bike Bootcamp last night, but instead I felt refreshed. On Tuesday, I usually do a 30-30 bootcamp split. This morning I did a 30 minute Hip Hop Bootcamp with the one and only Jess Sims, followed by a core workout and then an arms toning session. This evening, I did a 30 min live bootcamp with Jess Sims at 7pm. The reason I programmed my workouts this way is because Jess does her live bootcamps on Tuesday nights and I would hate to miss them! After the bootcamp I felt pretty gassed (rated it an 8) but I HAD to tune into Jess’s live Year of Yes Run. This week’s theme of Year of Yes is “Yes to the Power of Saying No” which is exactly what I need to hear. It taught me that it’s okay to say no to things or experiences that disrupt my peace. I ended the night with a sleep meditation. To be honest, I never know what happens at the end of a sleep meditation.

WEDNESDAY

  • 20 min Intervals Run with Becs Gentry

  • 45 min Full Body Strength with Andy Speer

  • 10 min Core Strength with Olivia Amato

Wednesday! Hump day! Today in my four-week program is a 45 min strength, a 20 min intervals run and a core workout. I started off the morning with a 20 min Becs Gentry intervals run. Once I completed that, I crushed Andy Speer’s newest 45 min strength. I chose to workout with Andy and Becs today because they do a really good job of focusing in on form and the science behind training. They both really go into detail on why we are doing certain moves and the reasoning behind the way they format their workouts. For me, since I have just become a certified personal trainer through NASM, I find this very helpful not only physically but mentally. I also finished my workout off with an Olivia Amato core strength class. Whether it’s 5 minutes or 20 minutes, Olivia knows how to lead a tough core workout. I needed that finisher today!

Thursday

  • 10 min Energizing Meditation with Ross Rayburn

  • 20 min Pop Run with Jess Sims

  • 10 min Arms Toning with Ben Alldis

  • 10 min Core Strength with Robin Arzón

Today I decided to sleep in a little and do an early afternoon workout. Since my job is remote this fall, I am able to have more of a flexible schedule most days of the week. I felt a little sluggish this morning and less energized than I usually am. Since I was feeling sluggish, I tuned into a Ross Rayburn Energizing meditation. It was a 10 minute meditation to get me in the right mindset to get going with my workout for the day. Thursday is a lighter workout day for me, mainly focusing on cardio. I hit the tread for a 20 min pop run, with my favorite, Jess Sims. Jess Sims never seizes to put me in the right mindset for the day. Since having HIIT and interval training on the previous days, Thursdays are a good day for me to have more of a fun run setup so I can recover my body a little, while still having forward progress. After I completed my run, I did a 10 minute arms toning class with Ben Alldis and a 10 minute core with the one and only Robin Arzón. Robin always reminds me that I am limited edition and to always be a hustler in life. Lastly, since work was pretty slow today, I decided to take a walk outside following my previous workouts. Walking outside on the East Coast in January is definitely a major peak.

Friday

  • 20 min Glutes & Legs Strength with Jess Sims

  • 10 min Arms & Shoulders Strength with Jess Sims

  • 10 min Arms Toning with Ben Alldis

  • 10 min Core Strength with Adrian Williams

  • Flash 15 with Jess Sims

  • 20 min Pop Run with Adrian Williams

Happy Friday! It is one of my favorite days of the week because I start my morning off with two live classes with Jess Sims. On Fridays, I dedicate my day to 45 minutes of strength training, arms toning, core and a 20 minute run. Since Jess has live classes, I will spread out my strength training among different sections to get the full 45 minutes in. At 8:30am, I tuned into Jess’s 20 minute glutes and legs strength class. WOW, my legs were definitely feeling it after that one! In between the 20 minute strength class and the Flash 15 (one of my favorite classes), I stacked a 10 minute arms strength, arms toning and a core with Adrian. I found the Flash 15 tough today. A few work meetings stood in between me and my 20 minute run, which I did with Adrian Williams. Adrian is also one of my favorite instructors that really puts a smile on my face. With his relaxed personality, he can make any workout feel fun, while showing us that we can accomplish anything, even if we need to take an emotional lap. Fridays are also one of my favorite days because me and my friend, another Peloton Member, virtually get coffee “together” and talk about the live workouts from the morning. Her and I do live classes together throughout the week to make it feel like we are still working out together, while not physically being together. That is one of the best things about Peloton.

Saturday

  • 10 min Arms Toning with Cody Rigsby

  • 10 min Core Strength with Matt Wilpers

  • 5 min Bootcamp Warm Up with Selena Samuela

  • 60 min Hip Hop Bootcamp with Jess Sims

Saturday 60 day! I look forward to the Saturday 60 class with Jess Sims all week. As you can tell, I do not miss a live class with Jess if my schedule allows. It is my favorite class to end my workout week before my recovery day. It is funny because if someone asked me to workout for 60 straight minutes before joining Peloton, I probably would have declined. Now with Peloton and Jess Sims, it is a class I will talk about all day even after the class is over. This class is my favorite because of the feeling it gives me. I was a Division I college athlete and after I graduated I felt like I missed the feeling of game day. This class gives me a very similar feeling to game day, and that is something I truly appreciate. A few of my Peloton friends have jumped on the Leaderboard to join me for this class. My friend Alyssa (#Saturday60lyssy) is the loyal member who is on it with me every Saturday. We push each other everyday. The Saturday 60 is split half tread and half floor for 10-ish minute segments. Today was a Hip Hop themed class and the music was fire. Good vibes to start Saturday. Before the bootcamp I stacked my workout with an arms toning with Cody Rigsby, core with Matt Wilpers and a 5 minute bootcamp warm up with Selena Samuela. What a successful Saturday with Peloton!

Sunday

  • 10 min Yoga Flow with Anna Greenberg

  • 5 min Stretch with Alex Toussaint

  • 20 min Y2K Fun Walk with Chase Tucker

Today is a big recovery day for me. I did not mention this each day, but I do make sure I warm up and cool down before and after my workouts. They make a huge difference with recovery and limiting fatigue and soreness. I also try to meditate at least 5 times a week; I really try to make that a daily thing because it is also important from the mental side, and Peloton does an excellent job giving Members that access. On my recovery days, I will complete a light walk, 10 minute yoga and a stretch. I started off the morning with a 10 minute yoga flow with Anna Greenberg. For me, yoga is something I am a beginner in, still trying to work on my flexibility and mobility. After I completed the 10 minute yoga flow, I jumped right into a 5 minute stretch with Alex Toussaint. Got the body ready for this Sunday. To finish off my week, I did a Chase Tucker Y2K walk. Chase Tucker brings the positivity and lightheartedness in his workouts. I try to keep it light just to get the body moving but I know rest and recovery is important. Since the weather does not always cooperate for outdoor activities in the east coast in January, I tend to keep my walks indoors on my treadmill. The rest of the day will be spent with my family and watching football.
