How to Level Up Your Hotel Room Fitness Offerings—No Construction Needed

This wellness amenity can be a revenue-driver for your hotel.

Whether they’re traveling for work or pleasure, a majority of hotel guests today share one thing in common: They want to stay active. A state-of-the-art fitness center and spa can be a big draw for jetsetters looking to keep up with their wellness routines—but that setting, no matter how accommodating, may not be the right space for everyone. That’s why in-room hotel fitness offerings are an increasingly popular amenity to help guests exercise the way that best suits their preferences.

Convenience, privacy, and personalization are all key draws of in-room fitness. Whether a guest wants to start their day with an energizing cardio workout or wind down with a restorative stretch, amenities like Peloton Bikes and yoga mats give them the chance to get moving their own way. These are the kinds of amenities that today’s travelers want: In a 2024 Peloton survey, we found that 44 percent of Peloton Members surveyed work out in their hotel room when traveling and that both Peloton Members and non-members surveyed are willing to pay more than $40 extra each night for in-room Peloton equipment. That means in-room fitness options can help bolster customer loyalty and drive revenue.

Why Hotel Guests Want In-Room Fitness Options

For nearly a decade, Hilton has recognized guests’ growing preferences for flexible fitness options. That’s why, in 2017, it launched Five Feet to Fitness, its in-room workout offering that gives guests access to exercise equipment in the comfort of their hotel rooms. “We recognize that not every traveler’s fitness needs are met in a traditional fitness center, and we want to ensure guests have access to movement options that fit their routines,” says Aaron Dembroski, Hilton’s Director of Global Wellness. “Today’s travelers aren’t just hoping to maintain their routines on the road; they’re expecting it.”

Hilton expanded its partnership with Peloton in 2023 to offer Five Feet to Fitness with Peloton at select hotels. Today, at more than 120 Hilton properties—including Signia by Hilton San Jose in the heart of Silicon Valley, and Tempo by Hilton New York Times Square—guests can reserve a room equipped with a Peloton Bike, yoga mat, resistance bands, and on-demand fitness content. 

Hilton’s research shows that 57 percent of travelers exercise most days while traveling, Dembroski adds, and Peloton loyalists are likely to base their choice of hotel on Bike availability. While a well-equipped fitness center is likely to appeal to many guests, an in-room fitness offering can be a real differentiator. “Guests love the convenience and flexibility of having Peloton in-room, and many travelers actively choose Hilton properties because of this offering,” he says. “We continue to see strong engagement and demand.”

What Makes a Strong In-Room Fitness Offering? 

No construction is necessary to create a dedicated space for fitness in a hotel accommodation. Instead, the right equipment—and streamable content—that allows guests to personalize their workout experience makes all the difference. “What sets Hilton apart is how we integrate fitness into the broader stay experience,” says Dembroski. “As part of our recently expanded partnership with Peloton, we introduced on-demand content through our proprietary Connected Room Experience, allowing guests to access a collection of Peloton’s classes directly from their in-room TVs.”

That means, at more than 2,400 Hilton properties, guests can stream select Peloton barre, yoga, bodyweight strength, stretching, and cardio classes, even if they’re not staying in a Five Feet to Fitness room; with this kind of offering, you can help countless guests stay committed to their fitness routine without requiring any intensive renovations or redesigns. Through Hilton’s Connected Room Experience, guests also get access to new Peloton classes every six months, which ensures they have plenty of options for a guided workout that works for them.

Dembroski adds that Peloton Members are especially likely to appreciate the expanded Connected Room Experience, and not just because it gives them access to their favorite instructors, like Aditi Shah and Alex Toussaint. “Being able to bring that experience into our guest rooms means we’re not just providing a fitness option, but offering guests a meaningful way to stay connected to something they love—even while on the road,” he says.

How to Evolve Your Hotel’s In-Room Fitness Offerings to Meet Guest Needs

While wellness has long been core to Hilton’s approach to hospitality, Dembroski says that the company has evolved and expanded its offerings over time, especially as guests have increasingly grown to prioritize their health. “As expectations shift, we see in-room wellness expanding beyond fitness to place greater emphasis on recovery, sleep, and overall well-being,” he says. “Travelers are looking for ways to restore and recharge as much as they are to stay active, and we’ll continue to explore new ways to support that balance.” 

After all, Hilton’s 2025 trend report showed that “sleep tourism” is on the rise, with 70 percent of luxury travelers choosing hotels with sleep-centric amenities, like wellness rooms equipped with Peloton Bikes (perfect for a post-snooze pick-me-up or pre-bed wind down), muscle massage guns (for post-workout recovery), and top-quality mattresses (for the best sleep possible). 

If one thing’s clear, it’s that demand for wellness-focused amenities is only going to grow. Making investments to help guests put their health first and personalize their fitness experience can give you a clear competitive advantage. As Dembroski notes, “The future of wellness in travel is about more choices, greater flexibility, and experiences that feel effortless yet deeply personal.”
