One of the hardest things about working out is usually not the workout itself, but developing a habit around exercise so it becomes second nature. While many things can throw off your workout routine, travel is one that doesn’t have to. If you find yourself frequently traveling for work or just want to stick to your routine while on vacation, there are plenty of workouts you can do in your hotel room.

The Best Hotel Room Workouts for Exercise on the Go

It’s a myth that you need a large space or a hotel gym to get in a good workout on the go. Even if you just have a sliver of floor space in your room, these hotel room workouts are totally doable. Plus, tap into some of our favorite no-equipment classes on the Peloton App for your next trip.

Barre

One thing almost every hotel room has? A chair. That’s all you need for an amazing full-body sculpting barre workout. Barre workouts are low-impact, so you don’t need to worry about your downstairs neighbor being disturbed. They also focus on small, precise movements, meaning you’re unlikely to accidentally kick over a desk lamp. Even if you’re a barre beginner, you’ll reap the benefits of barre, like reduced stress and improved posture and flexibility.

Pilates

Similar to barre, Pilates is a low impact and de-stressing workout that only requires your bodyweight. You only need a space about as large as a yoga mat to complete most movements, making it ideal for hotel rooms.

Yoga

Yoga workouts are versatile enough that you can always find something, no matter what your mood is that day. Need to calm down after a busy day? Restorative yoga fits the bill. How about something that packs cardio and strength into one? Try power yoga. Trouble sleeping in a new place? Turns out, yoga is the ultimate sleep aid.

Resistance Bands

Plan ahead and pack a set of resistance bands, and you’ll be glad you did. Small but mighty, resistance bands allow you to get a full-body resistance training workout that challenges your entire range of motion. If you typically take strength classes at home, you’ll still be able to do many of the same exercises you’d do with dumbbells, like biceps curls, woodchoppers, rows, flys, and more.

Bodyweight Strength

Your own body weight offers all the resistance you need for an incredible workout—even in a hotel room. If you’re looking to get your heart rate up, bodyweight workouts are a great option. Moves like high knees, mountain climbers,  jump squats, and skaters will work your cardiovascular system and leave you sweaty.

Peloton App Favorites:

Core

If you’re short on time, core workouts are a great type of workout to squeeze in when you need a good hotel room workout. Core strength workouts can be done in as little as 5 minutes, but you’re still guaranteed to work up a sweat.

Stretching

After a long day of traveling or sightseeing, chances are you might not feel like working out at all. Might we suggest stretching? Stretching can help ease tight muscles so you feel ready to take on the next day. Best part? You can even stretch in bed.
