Getting fit together has never been so much fun.

All “Peloton Family” classes must be taken using an adult’s Peloton member login and under adult supervision.

If you’re a Peloton Member, chances are being active is already an important part of your lifestyle. Maybe you’ve been able to pass down that passion to your kids, or maybe, despite your best efforts, they’re still more interested in video games. Either way, Peloton is making it easier than ever for your whole family to get involved in a little bit of movement. With the Peloton Family Collection, kids as young as 3 can join in on meditation, yoga, cardio, and more. Learn more about what sparked the creation of Peloton for kids classes, plus what you can expect and how to take the classes safely.

What Are Peloton Family Classes?

The Peloton Family Collection includes classes in various disciplines, including cardio, strength, yoga, mediation, and shadowboxing. The classes are designed with family in mind, so little ones can take them safely. “We wanted families to be able to sweat together with no equipment and experience the joy of movement,” says Peloton instructor (and former school teacher!) Jess Sims, who designed the family-friendly cardio and strength classes.

The classes were initially created to help families stay active during the COVID-19 pandemic. “We've always wanted to add family content to our current class offerings, but of course with the extenuating circumstances, we realized that the need was more critical than ever,” says Jess. Now, they’re here to stay, so you and your family can get fit together anywhere, anytime.

Why Should Families Take Peloton Classes Together?

A lot of people see their Peloton time as “me” time, but working out with the family is a great way to instill a love of movement as well as build character. “Kids notice everything!” points out Jess. “So the more they see you incorporating healthy choices and consistent workout habits, the more likely they will want to do it.” Not only will they want to do it, but encouraging more movement throughout the day “helps with balance, cardiovascular endurance, and builds strength and overall coordination,” says Jess.

Working out together is also a fantastic way to bond. “Jumping into these workouts with your kids is really powerful to have a shared experience and shared glazed-donut look,” she notes.  Plus, Jess sees this as a way to really set your kids up for success. “Working out also provides a great platform for kids to practice transferable life skills—perseverance through challenges, discipline, challenging their limits, teamwork, and so much more!”

Peloton Family Class Types

Whether you’re trying to help your kids stay mindful with meditation or want to get the whole family up and moving, there are Peloton Family classes that can help get you there. Each class is suitable for different age ranges, so be sure to check individual class descriptions to ensure you’ve picked one that’ll work for your whole family. Here’s what classes you’ll find in the collection:

Fit Family Brain Breaks

Ages: 5+

Peloton Fit Family Brain Break

These classes incorporate quick movements and engaging storytelling to give families a break and let their bodies and minds get creative. Best suited for those with younger kids, these classes are inspired by childhood classics like Musical Chairs and new favorites like “Sims Says.” Family Brain Breaks are a great way to get your family up and moving, so you can all reset and refresh while improving balance and core strength.

Fit Family

Ages: 5+

These full-body workouts are both invigorating and educational. Jess Sims (and the occasional instructor guest) uses fun and games to get everyone moving for 20-30 minutes. Inspired by the daily kindergarten PE classes Jess taught as an assistant principal, she says “I had three main goals: to learn a little, sweat a lot, and have the most fun!”

Fit Family Fun

Ages: 5+

These 15 minute, full body workouts include cardio and strength training. With educational asides about muscles and other physiological fun facts, everyone can jam out to fun music and learn along the way.

Fit Family Strong

Ages: 10+

Peloton Family classes can grow with your kids—like in these 20-minute classes designed for kids age 10 and up. With a cardio and strength training focus, these classes still have the educational aspects of our other Fit Family classes, but they’ll feel a little less geared towards the littlest ones.

Fit Family Shadowboxing

Ages: 10+

Peloton Fit Family Shadowboxing

The whole family can boost their mind-body connection and embrace movement in these 10-15 minute classes. You’ll learn the basics of shadowboxing and get your heart rate up, all while having a blast with your family.

Fit Family Flow: Kids

Ages: 3-9

With a focus on mindful movement and creative play, kids are introduced to yoga in these 10-20 minute, family-friendly flows. Learn mindful breathing and explore yoga poses in a fun, engaging way.

Fit Family Flow: Tweens

Ages: 9+

These yoga classes can help teach your older kids the foundations of building a yoga practice while exploring the mind-body connection. Cultivate self-love, inner strength and confidence in these 15-30 minute flows.

Family Meditations

Ages: All

This series of 5 and 10 minute meditation classes is designed with the family in mind and are appropriate for all ages and all experience levels.

Why Peloton Members and Their Families Love Peloton Family Classes

Member Kelly K.’s four-year-old daughter loves short-and-sweet classes Fit Family Brain Breaks. “Her favorites are the flamingo and surf ones,” Kelly says. Haven’t heard of those exercises? Well, we can tell you that they’re more fun than burpees, that’s for sure.

Member Sara S. was excited to see Peloton Family classes during the pandemic. “My daughters are 8 and 11, and I was thrilled when I saw Peloton was offering family classes,” she shares. They had been "sheltering in place since early March, so having something new to do together was a win. We have tried the 5-, 15- and 20-minute classes and have liked all of them. I love how Jess explains the moves, the right form, and teaches them something about their body and how it works.” Her family has also tried out some meditations. “As a mom, just to have 5 quiet minutes surrounded by the people I love most, all thinking about something we are grateful for or love about one another, has been powerful.”

Sharon S. has an active almost-13-year-old daughter who dances and plays soccer and basketball, and the two of them recently tried two of Jess’s 20 minute Fit Family Strong classes. “I liked Jess Sims for her since I see her as a positive role model for girls,” she says. “I find 20 minutes is a good length for kids. Otherwise they get bored.”
