Peloton Member Allyson Felix is indisputably one of the greatest athletes of all time on the track, but there’s another sport she’s committing herself to these days: motherhood. When Allyson hangs up her spikes for the day, there’s a little one waiting at home to call her Mama. “My daughter, Camryn, inspires me to be my best self,” says Allyson. “One of my greatest achievements is that I get to impact women and girls, and I think the gold medals that I won in London are what gave me that opportunity—but for me it all circles back to my ability to impact and make my daughter proud.” And, as a board member for Right to Play (an organization that empowers children to overcome adversity through sport), Allyson’s spirit of sharing her passion with blossoming generations continues to create a lasting impact around the world—not unlike the iconic scenes from her many races as the first to cross the finish line.

If you ask Allyson to share her secrets to success, expecting to hear about regimented training plans or intricate nutrition guidelines, you may be surprised to hear about the most powerful forces driving her unrelenting determination and passion. “Community is everything. I am blessed to have such amazing support in my family, friends and training group,” she tells us. “But my community also includes those who have lifted me up and cheered me on through my professional career: My competitors for pushing me. Moms who shared their stories and inspired me through Camryn’s birth. I am grateful for my community that has motivated me not just physically, but also mentally and in my own personal growth.”

Motivation is the word—but how does Allyson keep a supply topped up with so much success already claimed? Answer: the fine-tuning never stops. “Every day, I like to find a new motivation for training,” Allyson says. “Some days there are specific training goals and seeing how much further I can go. Others it’s just doing my best and making it back home for some family time.” It’s these practices that Allyson holds dear that keep her grounded and, ultimately, refreshed to give her all in every dimension of her life—as an athlete, activist and mom.

Two-year-old Camryn, or “Cammy” as Allyson has nicknamed her, is undoubtedly the greatest priority in Felix’s life off the track. “My time management with training has certainly changed since becoming a mom. I used to be able to solely focus on training and related work, but now it’s making sure I am there for my daughter (getting her ready for the day, meals, nap/play/learning time, weekends, etc.)—so all that being said, my schedule is pretty tight!” But as a Peloton Member, Allyson can comfortably work out (read: work) from home. “It's so amazing knowing I can always get a challenging, quality workout in my home on the days I am not able to make it to the track or when I just want that extra ‘Cammy time.’”
