While growing up in East Germany, Peloton’s newest German instructor Erik Jäger embraced several of the sports he was surrounded by. Starting at just six years old, he would step in as goalie to help his older sister practice her shooting skills. “She was a really good soccer player,” says Erik. “She was a striker and she needed someone to go in the goal--it got me more interested in the game, thinking I could be a really good goalkeeper in the future...when I was six.” Soccer became the launching point for Erik’s love of athletics and inspired him to explore other sports like handball and cycling within his local community.

While still invested in sports, Erik’s interests grew outside of what happens on the field. When it was time for him to make a decision about his career direction, he pursued personal training, working his way up to training some of the top talent in Germany, including many of the country’s elite soccer players. Whether it was working with a professional athlete or a friend who was interested in getting in better shape, he loved the fitness journey that they were able to explore together. “It’s not just the body results,” says Erik. “My clients feel more powerful and more confident--I love all of the amazing things you can give them through sport.”

“We’ll work hard together and get through it as a team.”

At Peloton, Erik is excited to take each and every Member on the same journey he has with his clients in the past. While there may be a bit of tough love sprinkled into every ride, he wants you to know that fun will always be at the forefront of every workout along with an array of different music genres that will energize your every effort. “I like to push people in a healthy way,” says Erik. “We’ll work hard together and get through it as a team.” Erik’s passion for connecting, learning and bringing people together is at the core of what he loves to do within the world of fitness and is what he’s most excited to do in his new role as a Peloton instructor. “It’s cool when people come together,” says Erik. “And it’s even better when you’re working toward the same goal.”
