About Me

My name: Roxanne A.

Find me on the Leaderboard: scientistrox927

I've been a Peloton Member since: 2019

I use the: Peloton App

My occupation: Scientist

To introduce myself: Peloton helped me rediscover my love of running and Becs Gentry is completely resposible for it. Although I don't own a treadmill, I still complete the runs outside - singing and dancing the whole way!

A recent fitness achievement I'm proud of: I am currently working towards completing a one year streak for yoga! I’m always training for the next half marathon that catches my eye.

My most frequently taken class: Yoga, yoga, and more yoga!

My advice to other Peloton Members: Find something you love and go with it! Also, have patience cause I surely did not love yoga when I started as it took a while for the love affair to develop.

My Favorite...

  • Instructors: Anna Greenberg, Becs Gentry, Aditi Shah, Emma Lovewell, Kristin McGee, Chase Tucker, Jess Sims, Adrian Williams

  • Recovery day class: Yoga - Evening Flow or Slow Flow! So smooth!

  • Class playlist genre: That's a hard one! It depends what type of class I am taking. However, I love 80s music! My best friend got me hooked on 90s music. I also enjoy pop rock, alternative, and pop punk/punk rock music!

  • Post-workout snack: I go against the mainstream and snack before my workout. With the timing of my workouts, I am chowing down breakfast or dinner after the workout. With that said, my favorite pre-workout snack is a banana and a Honey Stinger chocolate waffle.

  • Time to work out: It's a mixed bag! I enjoy yoga in the evenings, running in the morning, and everything else is sprinkled in between.

MONDAY

  1. 10 min Arms & Shoulders Strength with Matty Maggiacomo

  2. 5 min Core Strength with Jess Sims

  3. 10 min Full Body Stretch with Andy Speer

  4. 30 min Focus Flow: Rockstar with Kristin McGee

I had a long run over the weekend and had stacked several workouts the day before so I was feeling worse for wear. But, I’m not someone who can sit still very often so I needed movement. I picked an Arms & Shoulders Strength with Matty Maggiacomo. I knew picking Matty would come with a few laughs which is always welcomed on a Monday. Then I threw in a Core Strength class with Jess Sims. LAWD! Jess brought the fire starter, wood, and gasoline! Abs were LIT! Rounded it all out with a Full Body Stretch with Andy Speer and a Yoga Flow with Kristin — I couldn’t pass up a focus flow on rockstar pose. It’s my favorite so I ROCKED it out.

TUESDAY

Morning

  1. 3-mile outdoor run

  2. 5 min Post-Run Stretch with Matt Wilpers

  3. 10 min Full Body Strength Warm Up with Jess Sims

  4. 20 min Strength for Runners with Becs Gentry

  5. 5 min Core Strength with Andy Speer

  6. 10 min Full Body Stretch with Ben Alldis

Evening

  1. 45 min Evening Yoga Flow with Anna Greenberg

Early morning wake-up at 4AM and out the door for a 3 mile run followed by a stretch with Matt Wilpers. Matt had me time traveling back to dances in middle school with his playlist. I was definitely the wallflower at dances but always loved a good jam and watching everyone else bust a move! HA! I don’t work from home all the time but today was one of those days, so I try to take advantage of this and get in a workout at lunch. I had checked the live schedule the previous day and Becs’ Strength for Runners popped out at me. I did a quick strength warm-up with Jess Sims, and I’ve just started to work on my strength so I got a bit nervous about keeping up or being able to do the moves. But Becs was so organic and hilarious!

One thing I love about Peloton is modifications and instructors reminding you about “quality over quantity." I may not have gotten as many reps as I wanted, but the quality was there. After, I threw in a quick core strength with Andy Speer. These quick 5 minute core classes are no joke! I’m ALWAYS left feeling the burn! In the evening, I did a longer, Evening Yoga Flow with Anna. Aside from Slow Flow, I favor an evening flow. I literally melt and forget all the worries!

WEDNESDAY

  1. 30 min Yoga Flow with Anna Greenberg

Active rest day that included a live 30 min Yoga Flow with Anna. I’ve been doing yoga every day since April 8, 2020, so I can’t break my streak! Best part as always, my best friend over 400 miles away joined in, too.

THURSDAY

Morning

  1. 30 min Caribbean Run [Outdoor] with Jess Sims

  2. 20 min 90s Run [Outdoor] with Jess Sims

  3. 10 min Post-Run Stretch with Andy Speer

Evening

  1. 30 min Miley Cyrus Yoga Flow with Aditi Shah

I knew I had a 5K run to knock out this afternoon so I decided to stack some Peloton Outdoor runs. To start me off, I chose Jess Sims’ 30 min Caribbean Run and then followed it with Jess’ 20 min 90s-themed run. I really enjoyed it! It was refreshing to find myself talking out loud with my own commentary and laughing. More of these runs in the future will be a thing! Followed my run with a 10 min Post-Run Stretch with Andy Speer because I’m trying to make stretching a routine. Preferring my yoga in the evening, I did a live Miley Cyrus Yoga Flow with Aditi. The message really drove home to just be unapologetically you! I enjoy a yoga flow where you can sing along and maybe bust a move!

FRIDAY

  1. 20 min Year of Yes Ride with Robin Arzón

  2. 10 min Low Impact Ride with Jenn Sherman

  3. 20 min Low Impact Ride with Robin Arzón

  4. 5 min Post-Ride Stretch with Sam Yo

  5. 20 min Yoga Flow with Anna Greenberg

My closest friend in life lives in Pennsylvania, so I try to coordinate workouts with her at least once a week. It doesn’t happen all the time but it is one of my favorite things and time I hold close to my heart. Robin had two evening rides on the schedule (20 min Year of Yes ride and 20 min Low Impact ride). My friend and I are just a couple of dweebs so we text back and forth during class providing our own commentary and GIFs. Robin is great! I thoroughly enjoy when she gets really into the song and her laugh is one of a kind. At the end of the day, time with the bestie AND Robin was something to behold. Plus, I was able to sneak in my first ride with Jenn Sherman between Robin’s rides. It was a quick low impact but it gave me a chance to see if I meshed with Jenn. I have a habit of taking shorter classes to see if I like the instructor. Jenn was a winner! Finished my evening off with a 5 min Post-Ride Stretch with Sam Yo and a 20 min Yoga Flow with Anna. Can I just say there’s nothing quite comparable to the post-yoga mood?!

SATURDAY

  1. 30 min Power Yoga with Anna Greenberg

  2. 10 min Yoga Flow with Anna Greenberg

Time to celebrate my 400th yoga class with a live class with Anna and my bestie! If it weren’t for my bestie, yoga would have never been a part of my life so I’m always conning her into my milestone flows. (She knows she loves it!) I got my shoutout! Woot, woot! Thanks, Anna!!! I also got a LOT of side planks...I was particularly proud as I was able to hold a side plank and lift the top stacked leg up. (Side note - felt every last minute of this class the next day!) Anna had a quick live 10 minute flow after so I took that class as well. It served as a great cool-down to the Power Yoga!

SUNDAY

Morning

  1. Half marathon

  2. 10 min Post-Run Stretch with Andy Speer

Evening

  1. 20 min Slow Flow with Kristin McGee

I was meant to be at Walt Disney World today doing my second Dopey Challenge, but such is life. Doing Dopey (5k, 10k, Half, and Full marathon for those not in the know) virtually was not an option for me as the mental aspect just is not there for me right now. However, I did sign up for the virtual half marathon cause who doesn’t love a half?! I got a local friend to run it with me, and we made the best of it despite it being virtual and a sub-freezing day. We ended it with donuts and ALL the hot coffee to warm ourselves up! It has been my most enjoyable virtual race experience to date! Of course, after all the running it was followed by a stretch routine with Andy Speer. Later in the evening to keep my muscles from being stiff, I did a Slow Flow with Kristin. I love LOVE a good Slow Flow! You just melt like buttah and it feels like luxury!
