Product safety at Peloton
At Peloton, we place the Member experience at the core of everything we do, and product safety is a top priority.
What we're doing as a company
Peloton has a dedicated team of product safety professionals to drive processes and help ensure all our products, parts and services undergo safety reviews. From product design to manufacturing, and from delivery to the entire Member experience - our team continuously evaluates the safety of our products with the aim of providing the best fitness experience for our community.
In addition to investing in research and development to continually improve the safety of our own products - as a leader in connected fitness - we work closely with product safety organizations and government regulators to enhance consumer safety. We will continue to use our global platform to deliver important safety information to our Members through our manuals, technology, and our instructors, reinforcing our commitment to placing our Members first.
The Peloton Tread: Thoughtfully designed with safety in mind
Safety key
Clip it on while running and know that the Peloton Tread will come to a quick stop if detached. Avoid unintended use by removing the safety key after your workout and storing it out of reach of children.
Intuitive Knobs
Stay in control of your run with intuitive knobs at your side that allow you to seamlessly add or reduce speed & incline -- focusing on your workout, not your settings.
Stop Button
Simply press the red stop button at your fingertips when running or walking on the belt to bring it to a stop.
Instructors
Keep safety top of mind with guidance from our instructors before and after your instructor-led class.
Additional security with Tread Lock
Protect your Peloton Tread from unauthorized access with a unique Tread Lock passcode. It provides you peace of mind every time your Tread is not in use.
Safety Guidance for Tread and Tread+
Keep children under the age of 16, pets and objects away from the Tread or Tread+ at all times. Users must not be under 105 lbs or over 300 lbs. Always switch power off, unplug the Tread or Tread+ and remove the Safety Key before cleaning and when the Tread or Tread+ is not in use.
Rear Safety Guard available for Tread+
As an additional safety feature, the Rear Safety Guard is now available for Tread+ Members, and features an industry leading safety design for slat-belt treadmills that eliminates the potential for entrapment risks near the rear roller of the treadmill.
Peloton is offering our Members a free Rear Safety Guard as part of the voluntary Tread+ recall in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The Rear Guard can be installed on the Peloton Tread+ in Members’ homes, free of charge. Tread+ owners can request to receive a Rear Safety Guard by contacting our Member Support Team by calling 1-866-679-9129 or via chat here.
