About Me

My name: Charlie W.

Find me on the Leaderboard: CharlieWilson20

I’ve been a Peloton Member since: May 2020

My occupation is: IT Consultant

To introduce myself: I live in Baildon, just outside of Leeds in West Yorkshire in the UK. I'm husband to my beautiful wife, Helen (who is also a Peloton member and fanatic), and a father to my two sons, Blake and Isaac. In my free time, I'm a youth football (or, soccer) coach, I have and still do coach my own sons and their respective teams.

A recent fitness achievement I’m proud of: Due to the global pandemic, my most recent fitness achievement has to be the last London Half marathon (late October 2019) when I came 115th out of a field of 16,500 participants. That shows we can achieve almost anything if we really push it!

My most frequent class taken: Bike Bootcamps & Tabata RidesMy advice to other Peloton Members: Don't worry about what other people are achieving or doing, focus on you and your best as that is good enough, and always keep pushing!

My favorite…

  • Instructors: Jenn Sherman, Olivia Amato, Cody Rigsby, Jess Simms

  • Recovery day class: Core strength or a low impact ride

  • Class playlist genre: Electronic or Dance music

  • Post-workout snack: Grilled bacon and fresh tomato sandwich

  • Time to workout: Early morning, the best time :)

Monday

  1. 45 min Full Body Bike Bootcamp with Cody Rigsby

  2. 45 min Tabata class with Olivia Amato

Monday morning in a cold frosty and Christmassy locked-down UK, I’m all cosy and relaxed and getting ready for the coming festivities at home in Baildon (Yorkshire). It’s Monday and back to the grind, after letting my hair down on the weekend for a bit, I decided to push myself a bit harder today.... So I gave Cody Rigsby’s 45 min Full Body Bike Bootcamp a go, as I’ve not done that one yet—it was very good for endurance, HIIT and core! After that I hit a live Olivia 45 min Tabata class, my first-ever with her. This class was amazing for strength, stamina and my VO2 max! After a tough morning of training, I’m ready for my day and the week ahead. Just like a wise man once said to me, 'Your attitude in life will always define your altitude in life.'

Tuesday

  1. 45 min Bodyweight Bike Bootcamp with Jess Simms

  2. 15 min HIIT Cardio with Olivia Amato

I started Tuesday with a spring in my step and wanted to really push my boundaries, I thought back to the training I did for the London marathon, we can achieve almost anything if we really push the envelope. I tend to train in a morning as it’s the best time of the day to get it done. (I’m also ex-military, so old habits die hard.) Today’s session was inspired by a friend of mine, after recommending the 45 min Bodyweight Bike Bootcamp with the amazing Jess Simms. I decided to hook the bike up to my Bose speaker and go for it—wow! What a 10/10 class that was. It had the lot: strength, power, endurance, HIT, balance, core work, high cadence & resistance, and aerobic work. I finished off with Olivia’s 15 min HIIT Cardio class, which is a cracker! If anyone wants to mix it up a bit, give these two classes a go back-to-back, you will love it! Now I’m ready for my working day ahead, on a massive endorphin high.

Wednesday

  1. 30 min HIIT Cardio with Adrian Williams

  2. 30 min Pro Cyclist Ride with Christian Vande Velde

  3. 10 min Resistance Bands Strength with Andy Speer

A very cold sub-zero temperature today in the UK... I was going to go out for a run this morning with Matt Wilpers for his 20 min British Rock Run, but it was too cold—no chance. I decided on a mixture today to get the blood flowing and get extra warmed up, since it’s so cold up here in the Yorkshire Moors. This morning consisted of a 30 min HIIT Cardio with Adrian Williams, followed by a 30 min Pro Cyclist Ride with Christian Vande Velde. I was really feeling the Peloton vibe, thanks to tough aerobic and anaerobic work. I cooled down with a 10 min resistance bands class with Andy Speer. Fast forward to the evening...I was still on a bit of a high, so I turned to the wonderful Aditi Shah for a sleep meditation to switch off and recharge… goodnight!

Thursday

  1. 30 min Pro Cyclist Ride with Christian Vande Velde

  2. 15 min Core Strength with Olivia Amato

Today I’m feeling rather fatigued by my hectic work schedule, so I need my workout to help my mental alertness be at its best for the rest of the day. Today is my VO2 max and fitness day. My wife Helen, who is also an avid Peloton Member, recommended the Christian Vande Velde Pro Cyclist Ride and Olivia’s 15 min Core Strength. Wow! Both really were amazing and a refreshing change for me—both were just what I needed before the work day started to get in the right mindset. This was a great day at work, as we cut some good deals!

Friday

  1. 60 min 2010s Ride with Ben Alldis

  2. 10 min Gratitude Meditation with Aditi Shah

Friday! Whoop whoop. I love Fridays, as it’s the start of “treat time” for me and Helen. In the UK fish and chips is a takeaway classic, and I look forward to it for my Friday lunch. But before that, it’s time for Ben Alldis’ 60 min 2010s Ride. I’m feeling great from yesterday’s workouts, and this class kept the good times rolling—the class plan and the playlist are the bomb! I pushed myself on this one to stay in the saddle the whole time...this was definitely a 10 out of 10 difficulty. After my class with Ben, I took an arms strength class with Tunde, who is always exceptional. She never fails! I finished with a core strength with Selena, this was my first class with her. She is very, very good and I will be doing many more with her! After a great aerobic and anaerobic workout this morning, my legs are tired...I settled down in the evening with a gratitude meditation with Aditi Shah. Time for bed…

Saturday

  1. 45 min Bike Bootcamp with Robin Arzon

  2. 10 min Gratitude Meditation with Aditi Shah

So it’s Saturday, meaning my week of madness is nearly complete. I have really, really pushed my boundaries and my body to the max this week… HOLY MOLY. I’m up and at it early today, looking forward to a day of family fun and some chores: decorating my home office and watching England Rugby Union Team beat Wales in the Autumn Cup (it’s a European thing) … come on England! A Robin class is in order today, the queen she is...I go with a 45 min Bike Bootcamp—wow! I’m chuffed to the bits (American English translation: “very pleased”) with myself today, as I beat my personal best and hit all my milage and output goals for the class, including finishing in the top 1% on the Leaderboard. I finished off with a core class with Selena...now for the evening, I’ve made lots of room today for my Saturday tea time take away treat while watching the UK version of Dancing with the Stars (we call it Strictly Come Dancing over this side of the pond) with the family. Now bed for a Gratitude meditation!

Sunday

  1. 5 min Peak Performance Meditation with Kristin McGee

  2. 20 min Tabata Ride with Tunde

  3. 20 min Beyoncé Full Body Strength with Robin Arzón

Slept in today...first thing in the morning, I woke up with a 5 min Peak Performance Meditation with Kristin McGee and my wife Helen, followed with a family breakfast and early TV for a couple of hours with the boys. It’s a very important day today — CHRISTMAS TREE DAY. As we are currently in lockdown in the UK, this is MASSIVE and something our family has really been looking forward to doing. We love that the tree makes our house feel so Christmassy and warm. But before all this… I take a 20 min Tabata class with Tunde and then a 20 min Beyoncé Full Body Strength, this one with my Helen...his and hers in one workout. And that is a wrap, over and out! Take care, stay strong, stay focused, stay healthy and together we go far. #pelotonfamily
