When you give Peloton as a gift, you’re giving so much more than exercise equipment. You’re giving the gift of on-demand fitness, of fun and challenging workouts, of an engaged and inspiring community, and so much more.
With the holidays approaching, you may be wondering how on earth to wrap a Peloton Bike or Bike+, Peloton Tread or Tread+, or Peloton Row. Don’t worry, you can pull off an epic surprise. From wrapping tips for that Peloton-under-the-tree gifting moment, to more creative ways to gift the Peloton lover in your life, we’ve consulted design experts to bring you all the ideas that will guarantee a reaction you and your gift recipient will never forget.
Creative Ways of Gifting Peloton
Your first option is to skip trying to wrap the equipment altogether (hey, wrapping isn’t everyone's jam!) This can be especially helpful if your Bike, Tread, or Row is not being delivered to the recipient right away.
There are plenty of fun and crafty ways you can present your Peloton gifts to amp up the excitement even more. Some suggestions:
The Mystery Box: Put together a box of Peloton swag and accessories. That could mean apparel, cycling shoes, light weights, and any other gear to support their fitness journey, like Peloton Wellness Essentials. (The best part will be watching the look on the recipient’s face as they work out what the box means!)
The Ornament: Did you know you can get Christmas ornaments that look like stationary bikes, treadmills, and rowing machines? Hang one on your tree and wait to see how long it takes your recipient to notice it. Attach a little tag to it featuring a clue as to where they might be able to find their Peloton gift if it’s hidden in the house. Or, if it hasn’t arrived yet, put the delivery date on the tag. Even better? Pick up a Peloton Ornament Set!
The Library: Curate a stack of books that all relate to Peloton, from self-care guides to a history of cycling. Bookmark seven different pages with the letters P,E,L,O,T,O, and N, so your recipient can put them together to spell out their surprise.
The Dollhouse: Have them open up a gift box that contains a doll-size toy bike. Are they still confused? Lead them outside to a giant lawn sign that screams “I GOT YOU A PELOTON BIKE,” and watch their reaction. (You may have a harder time finding a doll-size treadmill or rowing machine, but you can try!)
The Casual Approach: Slip a Peloton apparel gift card into their stocking, with a note that includes the delivery date and a printed picture of their new piece of equipment.
The Motivator: Make a poster or banner with the most inspirational and well-known quotes from Peloton instructors. When your recipient finishes reading them all, ask them which quote leaves them feeling most excited to take their first class. Then, lead them to their new Peloton equipment or present them with a picture of it. Bonus: The poster will look great hanging up next to their Bike, Tread, or Row in their at-home gym.
How To Wrap a Peloton
If none of those options are quite cutting it for you—and your piece of Peloton equipment has arrived in time for the holidays—get ready to wrap. Get your scissors and your sticky tape out as we show you a variety of wrapping ideas both you and your gift recipient will love.
The Jumbo Gift Bag
“Carefully cutting out strips of wrapping paper and taping them around every piece of the Peloton Bike can be tedious and messy,” says Melissa D’Agnese, senior décor editor at FIRST for Women and Woman’s World magazines. “A super simple solution—especially for those who aren’t very artsy or are tight on time—is to use a jumbo gift bag.” These holiday-themed bags come in sizes as large as 72 x 60 inches (a Bike is 48 inches long and 24 inches wide) and can be easily pulled around the Bike, secured with string ties and adorned with a pretty ribbon or a bow. D’Agnese adds; “The bag will disguise the shape of the Bike just enough to keep your loved ones guessing until the last moment.” (Note: The Peloton Tread and Row are larger than the Bike, so you may want to read on for other ideas if you’re looking to wrap one of them.)
The Reindeer Gift Wrap Disguise
“We all know that the anticipation of unwrapping a present can sometimes be more of an adrenaline rush than the present itself,” says Taniya Nayak, interior design expert and judge on The Great Christmas Light Fight on ABC. “When it comes to large awkward-shaped gifts like an exercise bike, get creative and think outside the box… literally!”
One way to do that: Wrap and decorate your piece of Peloton equipment to look like a reindeer or another seasonal animal. “The best way to ‘disguise’ the awkward-shaped gift is by first cutting out the shapes from an old cardboard box,” Nayak says, “perhaps a triangular shape for the head and a more boxy shape for the body.” Then you’ll need tape to secure the pieces. She recommends Frogtape or Ductape. Once the body is done, you can wrap the shape in paper that matches your animal. “Butcher paper is a great one because it’s basic brown and more durable than regular wrapping paper,” Nayak says. If you’re wrapping a Bike, you can even leave the handlebars uncovered and paste on some felt antlers.
The New Car Trick
You can always take a page out of the car dealership’s playbook and dress up your piece of Peloton equipment with a giant red bow. Easy, classic, and timeless, the giant bow is the perfect “wrapping” strategy for folks who are less inclined to break out the tape and scissors. A large bow of around 23 inches is the perfect size to place on the back of the screen or on the side of the Peloton Tread, Bike, or Row.
The Camouflage Play
To really surprise your loved ones with their new Peloton equipment, Nayak recommends discreetly placing it in with the holiday decorations in front of or inside your house. “Wrap the gift with garland and holiday lights and let them discover it amongst the rest of the décor,” she suggests.
This way, you don’t have to do any wrapping, nor do you need to move the gift around your house too much before moving it to its permanent home. Just be careful not to camouflage it too well, otherwise the new year may come and go before your gift recipient's first Peloton class!
