Music Moments: Get stuck into Peloton’s new Artist Series with dance music royalty

Music is an essential part of the Peloton brand and ecosystem. From pop and rock music to hip hop and dance, the Peloton on-demand library has a vast selection of music genres all of which have a huge influence on how our Member community selects their chosen workouts.
One genre of music that resonates well with our community, particularly in the UK, is House and Electronic Dance Music. Over the years, Peloton has teamed up with an eclectic group of DJs, run an exclusive Artist Series with the Ministry of Sound and programmed classes with the likes of St. Vincent, TOKiMONSTA and Honey Dijon, who have put fresh spins on classics and new dance tracks, such as the David Bowie remix series that was released earlier this year.
Launching this February, Peloton is excited to be collaborating with dance DJ legend, Pete Tong in a pursuit to continuously provide the best experience for its Members and bring iconic UK dance sounds to Peloton’s global community. From February 19th, Members will be able to take a cycling, run or stretch class listening to tracks by Pete Tong with workouts powered by Peloton’s best-in-class UK instructors; Leanne Hainsby, Jon Hosking and Ben Alldis.

“Electronic dance music is a compilation of electronic music subgenres that are intended for getting big crowds of people dancing, including house music, trance music, disco music, techno, drum and bass, dubstep, trap and more”, says Ben Alldis, Peloton’s Cycle and Strength instructor and an experienced DJ himself. “It's the kind of music that makes you want to move your body as soon as you hear it and it has been a symbol of contemporary culture since the 70s.”
“It is a popular music category within the Peloton community for the same reason it’s popular for communities who love to dance. The ever evolving and driving beats provide a great soundtrack to bring the best out of you in every workout and the motivation to come back wanting more each time. We offer a wide range of music genres on the platform, but EDM is generally one for those who are looking for a challenging and rewarding workout."
Pete Tong has been a Peloton fan and Member for several years. For the first time, Peloton has worked in collaboration with the acclaimed DJ to curate and mix a playlist that will be played exclusively in Leanne Hainsby’s 30 minute Ride.
Featuring classical renditions of iconic dance music hits with conductor Jules Buckley and the Heritage Orchestra, the Peloton community will be able to embark on a truly immersive music experience, curated by the DJ himself with Leanne.
“It is absolutely incredible. I have wanted to do something like this for such a long time,” says Leanne Hainsby, Peloton Cycle instructor. “When I am teaching my classes I always talk about tracks that boost my mood and whenever I listen to tracks by Pete Tong, it gives me a feeling I can’t explain. It is going to be really special, and there are some real dance heads out there that are going to absolutely love this class”.
In preparation for the Pete Tong Artist Series, the instructors cleverly curate their class programmes and playlists to help set the scene and bring the energy.
Jon Hosking, Peloton Tread Instructor says the Peloton community can expect “to come flying out of the blocks with track one. A statement of intent, a signature track; something to really get the juices flowing and the energy up. Track two will be about finding your feet and your rhythm. From there it will be about letting the music do the work and letting yourself get carried away”.
“When planning my class I want to paint a picture of the artist and when the music's right you can't help but run wild in the moment!”
Leanne Hainsby notes she has programmed her class with Pete to ensure her riders have a crescendo moment in the middle, this will then be followed by a chilled track, a rest point, so that she can take a moment to make callouts of Member milestones and set people up for the second half of the ride. “The first half will be vocally driven, featuring fun songs that we know and love and the second half will be more instrumental.”
